Yesterday’s run was non existent. My body was extremely sore from a BodyPump class that I take at my local gym. This morning however, I was up at 545 am ready to take to the streets with my running shoes. It didn’t go as planned. It was beautiful though…

the moon was still out

I ran about a total of 1 mile, my shins started acting up again. The total mileage was about 3 miles, but I walked the 2 in looked something like this..

run for .5 miles at an 11:00 min pace

stop at the bathroom, realize my shin hurts. Stretch a bit to hopefully ward off the pain

walk for 2 miles at an 16:00 min pace

run for the last .5 miles at an 10:30 pace.

I don’t want this evil shin pain to return! I’ve stretched, foam rolled, and used “the stick”..Maybe I just need to do it more than I already do to combat it…

What do you do to combat your running injuries? What works the best for you??

After my run fail attempt, I had a pretty busy morning ahead of me. Soccer practice for the little one and then an “egggstravaganza” for the little one.. Here’s some pictures from the day.. See you soon! Tonight I’m starting day 1 of my Jillian Michaels 30 day shred! 🙂 I heard its brutal

She loves that bouncy house

How do you get out of a funk?

I feel like I’m in a funk right now, be it coming off an injury or that it’s “that time of the month”, whatever it is, its caused me to not jump with two feet back into running. I have the desire to get back into the routine of running, but something is keeping me from doing it. I have made a date tomorrow with this girl, it’s harder to back out when someone is expecting you to show up and run with them.  I’m hoping that will pull me out of my slump, I have races to train for!

I’ve got:

-The 5k color run in OC April 22nd

-Bay to Breakers in SF on May 20th

-Rock n’ Roll half marathon in SD on June 3rd

-The SF half Marathon on July 29th

-The Disney Half Marathon in Anaheim on Sept 2nd

-and hopefully….the NWM in SF on October 14th!!

I was reminded today that I purchased a living social for xtend barre. I want to try it out, it was a good deal for two weeks unlimited classes!! hmm, maybe I’ll enjoy it as my idol skinnyrunner does. I have heard that it gives you quite a workout and even says that it “chisels your body” right on the website! If that doesn’t make you want to try it, I don’t know what will!

Any tips on getting out of a running rut? Or a rut in general?

Hello world!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

I’ve blogged at a couple other sites, that I have since taken down, but I need blogging in my life. Blogging helps me stay accountable, heck, just reading other runner’s blogs helps me stay accountable, so actually writing a blog will make me be EXTRA accountable..I’ll need it. 🙂

I started running in January 2012, I’ve trained hard with the help of the San Diego Track Club, not knowing too much about running I slammed head first into an injury, it put me off running for two weeks. So…

It’s time to get back on the training again. With my now half marathon less than two months away, I can’t help but think of my next step after my stint with the San Diego Track Club ends. I want to join another running group, perhaps one that is closer to north county. Even though the San Diego Track Club has a North County division, it is still really based out of Downtown San Diego.

I am considering In Motion Fit, I would do this one for the whole year. July 2012-July 2013, their fee is $170 for the whole year. I would get similar to what I get now with SDTC, I would get a mentor, a training plan, a group long runs, and weekly seminars…the other option is Team in Training, they are graciously offering FREE sign ups right now, but you need to raise $3200 for them. It definitely goes to a GREAT cause to benefit leukemia and lymphoma, it’s just that raising that much money can be daunting. They have all the coaching and stuff too and as a huge plus, they would give me a guaranteed entry into the NWM (Nike Women’s Marathon) in San Francisco in October.. right now, no can get a guaranteed entry into that race, since it sells out every year, they only do a drawing now to make sure that it is fair entry for everyone.

I’m still weighing my options, but I definitely know I want to join another group after June, when the one I am currently in, ends. I love being part of a group, having people to endure those long runs with makes it so much more enjoyable.

Has anyone participated in either of these programs? And if you have, any thoughts?
